Cora's backstory. As the official synopsis confirms, the flashback portion of this episode focuses on Cora's (Barbara Hershey) backstory as a young woman (played by Rose McGowan) who finds herself in a hard place when she claims she can spin straw into gold. This episode expands on her past relationship with Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), and we'll learn more about a tragic love story in her past.

Cora wants to become the Dark One. Meanwhile, in the present Cora makes it her goal to kill Rumple and take the Dark One powers. As synopsis puts it, "she and Regina [Lana Parrilla] try to overpower a dying Mr. Gold."

Snow tempted. The synopsis confirms that Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) "is once again tempted by dark magic." But is she the good character who makes a dark decision?

Who dies? This episode will feature a significant death that has big implications for the story going forward. You'll have to watch the episode to find out who dies — and why.

Tears for Rumplestiltskin. While this is primarily Cora's flashback episode, Rumple also plays a big role, since the "Miller's Daughter" backstory is inspired by the original Rumpelstiltskin story. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that, according to the episode's writer, Jane Espenson, "Rumple has moments with at least three separate characters that will put a lump in your throat." This Rumbelle scene is one such lump-worthy moment.

Many more hints. We have a ton of other hints for you here and here.
