It sounds like we have to go back to the island. Or perhaps down the rabbit hole? (Or are we doing the timewarp again?!)

Last week, TVLine shared this Once Upon a Time Season 2 teaser: "Something will happen this season that will ensure Mary Margaret and Emma get a lot of mother-daughter bonding time, whether they like it not. Bonus clue: Think Lost.”

Bah! Just explain, already. Well, this week a fan asked for details on the Lost-like twist. TVLine answered, "Remember how Lost would forever find new angles from which to tell a story? And you know how Once already uses flashbacks to the fairytale land that was? Well, you didn’t think they’d leave the narrative as linear as that, did you?"

Wow, thanks for explaining.

Once Upon a Fan has some great speculation on this idea — and they posted it before the Lost teases:

We have had a feeling [Mary Margaret and Emma] may have disappeared from Storybrooke for a while now. It's a perfect way to keep the Charming/Snow love story going and explains why Henry is with Charming in some of the filming shots. We know these writers love to rip characters apart. Think Sun/Jin in Lost and we may get an idea of where the Snow/Charming story could be heading this season. Jefferson's mysterious hat has already been spotted in Storybrooke. Could Emma and Snow have taken a trip down the rabbit hole? Or has the magic Gold unleashed at the end of last season whisked them away to a far off land? Do you think the writers are planning to tear Snow and Charming apart again? Will Emma have to battle her way through different realms to get back to Storybrooke and be reunited with Henry?

Interesting. Do you think that's what happens? Will the newly re-acquainted Mom and Daughter be kept apart from Charming and Henry (aka Grandpa and Grandson)? The ladies get some girl time while the boys do their thing? And will the stories somehow be told from multiple angles or perspectives, ala Lost? Do you think that could get confusing, especially since we have a host of new characters headed our way, or are you excited at all the new puzzles to solve?

Once Upon a Time Season 2 premieres on September 30, 2012 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
