If you’re feeling a little confused about the dynamic between adoptive mother and son Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Henry (Jared Gilmore) on Once Upon a Time, then you’re not the only one.

In Season 2, Episode 17: “Welcome to Storybrooke,” Henry tells Regina that using a spell “won’t make me love you. It won’t be for real,” but one OUAT Twitter fan argued that it has been stated that Henry does love Regina. What does OUAT co-creator Adam Horowitz have to say about all of this?

“Love is complicated,” OUAT co-creator Adam Horowitz tweeted in response. “[Henry’s] feelings for [Regina] vacillate with her actions. But he never forgets she's his mom.”

If you’re still a little fuzzy of the details of the dynamic, then keep watching! Adam also divulged, “We explore these ideas soon.”

We’re glad to see that this relationship is going to be addressed more closely. Since Emma (Jennifer Morrison) came back into  Henry’s life, there’s been a lot of confusion as to what roles both she and Regina play. Henry has called Regina “Mom” his entire life (the entire Henry adoption process is shrouded in mystery). It has been hard for us to buy that he wouldn’t have a harder time making the transition.

We also wonder if this exploration will come into play with the potential Henry-napping that set videos for the two-part season finale hint at. There’s nothing like a kidnapping to put things into perspective!

Are you excited to see that the Henry/Regina relationship will be further explored this season? Let us know in the comments below!
