Things got even more complicated between Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Neal (Michael Raymond-James) on Once Upon a Time after Neal revealed he was enganged. Surprise! Emma did not look too pleased with the idea, but we have to give her credit for not actually dropping her jaw to the pavement. That girl sure does know how to keep her emotions to herself. So, what’s in store for our favorite star-crossed couple? Co-creator Eddy Kitsis weighs in...

“It’s hard for Emma,” Eddy told TVLine. “Their dream was Tallahassee, to just go and get regular jobs — and now he’s doing that with [fiancée Tamara]. And since Emma’s the kind of character who has a wall up around her heart, I’m not sure she wants to admit it hurts her, but we’re definitely going to see that it does.”

Poor Emma. For being the savior and everything, this girl does not catch a lot of breaks.

But how does Neal feel about all of this? He didn’t want to abandon Emma is prison all of those years ago, but was convinced by August that it was in Emma’s best interest. Now that a future with Emma is possible again, will his feelings for his fiance change?

“It affects [Neal] because we know that he didn’t want to leave her,” said Eddy. “He’s in love with her. What happened [in "Manhattan"] is a situation that neither of them ever thought would happen, so now what do you do? That’s what a lot of the rest of the season’s about.”

If ever there was an upside to your father getting stabbed, it is the chance to spend some quality time with the son you never knew you had and the woman you love but thought would never see again. We’re definitely tuning into to find out what happens next with this destined duo.

Do you think Emma and Neal will get a happy ending? Let us know in the comments below.
