Characters We've Met

Captain Hook: We hope you like hottie Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), because he's in this for the long haul. Colin O’Donoghue's already been promoted to series regular! It sounds like we can expect some more romantic chemistry between he and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) coming up...

Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Mulan: Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger) are both recurring characters, so we expect to keep seeing them, though there's not much info about what will happen to their stories once Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) return to Storybrooke.

Neal Cassady: You better bet we haven't seen the last of Henry's (Jared Gilmore) dad. The writers say they have a "specific plan" for the character, and Jennifer Morrison has hinted that Emma and Neal will meet again. We expect that he won't stay away for long now that he's received August's (Eion Bailey) postcard. The real question is: Is he a fairytale character?

Prince Philip: Pretty Little Liars hottie Julian Morris (Wren Kingston) seemed to be a goner in the premiere, but is he really dead? His soul was sucked by the wraith, but it seems like that could be reversed, and this pic of Julian hanging out with Jamie Chung gives us hope for his return.

The Giant: Lost fan-fave Jorge Garcia will be back as The Giant for at least one more episode.

Sir Lancelot: While Lancelot's story seemed pretty thoroughly covered in Season 2, Episode 3: “Lady of the Lake,” it was originally reported that he was rumored to be appearing in "at least two episodes," so it's possible that we will see him again.

Quinn and Anita: As far as we know, these characters from Red's (Meghan Ory) past were only around for Season 2, Episode 7: “Child of the Moon.” Given their gruesome fates, we don't expect to see them again.

New Characters

Helena:  A character named Helena is being cast for a guest role in Season 2, Episode 13. She is described as “a 30-year-old brunette who is a sophisticated lady and also a fierce hunter of deadly creatures.” Hmmm ... who could she be? Some suspect Helen of Troy, based on her name.

Dr. Whale's brother: Hottie Chad Michael Collins has been cast as Dr. Whale's brother (David Anders), named Gerhardt. Is he the brother who died, that Whale was trying to bring back to life?

Bennett — a mysterious visitor?: There is a new character named Bennett, who is “sweet, charming, intelligent and funny,” but "possesses a darkness, as well as a willingness to fight to the bitter end for his beliefs." Some suspect that this character is the same as the mysterious visitor to Storybrooke who we know is coming, played by Ethan Embry.

Jack?: There were casting reports about a new charismatic and mysterious character named Jack. Given that we're seeing The Giant again, it's still possible this Jack is the one from the Jack and the Beanstalk story. However, some fans suspect that it's a different character, and even that the casting notice may have been a cover for the casting of Neal, since the description of Jack as "charismatic, mysterious, and running from his past" fits Emma's former love.

Ariel, aka the Little Mermaid: According to TV Guide, OUAT creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis say we will also meet Ariel in Season 2. So far there has been no news about who will play her, and it's possible those plans have been put on hold.

Aladdin and Jafar: TV Guide reports that Aladdin and his nemesis, Jafar, are also on the slate for the season, though, again, there has been no recent news about them.
