Once Upon a Time is back this Sunday with a new episode (thank god), the first of what will be four consecutively new episodes ending in the two-part season finale. Series co-creator Edward Kitsis talked to TVLine about what this week’s episode (Season 2, Episode 19: “Lacey”) will bring — specifically in the Rumbelle department.

“Lacey” will see a troubled Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold searching for a way to restore Belle’s memory as he also struggles to do the right thing in light of recent discoveries.

“We understand that Rumple and/or Mr. Gold is a man who has darkness inside him, and all season he’s been searching for the light, for a way to be better now that his son is in town,” Edward said. “And we also know there is a prophecy that said Henry would be his ‘undoing,’ and he said to the seer, ‘Well, I’ll just kill him.’ But now that it’s his grandson, he’s facing a conundrum, and Belle has always been the person who’s brought out the best in him. What ‘Lacey’ [Belle’s Storybrooke counterpart] does is watch Rumple struggle with his inner demon.”

Rumple has a lot to deal with and is desperate enough on the Belle front to go to David (Josh Dallas) for help, as we see in this sneak peek. Will Belle’s memories be restored? Is Rumple seriously considering killing Henry? And what will David do with that favor Rumple promises in exchange for his help? (We’re thinking matching bromance bracelets.)
