We all know that Prince Charming and Snow White “will always find each other” on Once Upon a Time, but what about Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Belle (Emilie de Ravin)? Even though Belle is her Storybrooke alter-ego Lacey currently, why is she not drawn to Rumple the way Charming and Snow were as their Storybrooke counterparts? Emilie defended the Rumbelle relationship to Hypable.

“Well… that Snow and Charming thing took a long time though,” Emilie pointed out. “This is a short period of time, and it’s different because she has zero memory. Nothing. Whereas they remembered who they were in Storybrooke, and there was something that drew them together, but they didn’t know they were Snow White and Prince Charming.”

We love that Emilie is a Rumbelle shipper! And we totally agree with her logic. When she was in the hospital, Belle could not remember herself as Belle or Lacey, and Rumple was pretty intense with his visits. Who wouldn’t be at least a little creeped out?

“For me, I’m rejecting this guy who’s just coming in,” continued Emilie, “I have no idea who I am, and he’s bringing me a cup with a chip in it and trying to get me to hypnotize myself with it?”

So, is there hope for a some sort of Rumbelle reunion, even if Belle is her Storybrooke counterpart, Lacey? Perhaps.

“I mean, [Rumple’s] the one person who — even if she’s being scared and frustrated and confused by it all — he’s the only person who’s tried to help her through this whole thing,” Emilie pointed out. “She starts to see that even more, so when he comes back alive that’s obviously much more of a relief than she probably would have felt if she hadn’t had that time to reflect.”

We weren’t so sure of this Lacey storyline at first, but we’re intrigued to meet Belle’s “scantily-clad” counterpart and to see how she and Rumple interact. We want Belle back eventually, but it could be fun to hang out with Lacey in the meantime.

Do you think Lacey will find herself drawn to Rumple? Are you willing to indulge the Lacey storyline for a while? Let us know in the comments below!
