It was great to see Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) get all Norma Rae about unifying Storybrooke’s confused Fairytale Land gang on Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 2: “We Are Both.” But what about the Charming/Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) love story we spent Season 1 working toward?

The couple spent a few beautiful minutes together on the Season 2 premiere, then had an awkward talk with their daughter, Emma (Jennifer Morrison), then fought a wraith,  and then the ladies got sucked into a hat to the Enchanted Forest. Not the romantic reunion we had in mind.

Now Snow and Emma are hanging out with new folks, and on Season 2, Episode 3: “Lady of the Lake” they’ll meet Lancelot (Sinqua Walls). The Powers That Be have already teased that Snow and Lancelot have a complicated past that Charming doesn’t know about. That doesn’t necessarily mean romance, but we’ve got Snow hanging out with some guy she used to know in one world, and Charming making speeches while hanging out with the very hot Ruby/Little Red Riding Hood (Meghan Ory) in Storybrooke. Should we be worried?

Maybe — but not because of new romances.

Showrunner Adam Horowitz told E! things will continue to be complicated for the Charmings, but because of family problems, not romantic ones. "There's a lot of challenges, in terms of this new relationship with their daughter,” he said. Season 2 will give the Charmings “a whole different set of challenges that this new familial relationship presents.”

It was cute to see Henry (Jared Gilmore) refer to Charming as “Gramps,” but it’s going to be tougher for Mom and Daughter to get past their previous roommate relationship — especially when Emma was always the more experienced, less naive of the two. When Mulan (Jamie Chung) knocked out Snow at the end of Episode 2, Emma ran over to her calling “Mary Margaret” instead of "Mom" or even "Snow." It would be tough to look at a friend, who appears to be your own age, and see your mom. And Emma is still holding on to some resentment for her parents leaving her behind.

Maybe someday Emma, Snow and Charming can sit down with Geppetto, August/Pinocchio (Eion Bailey), and The Blue Fairy/Mother Superior (Keegan Connor Tracy) and they can tell each other the story of what they had hoped would happen when Pinocchio and baby Emma went into that magical tree cabinet. Do you think that would heal some family wounds?
