Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) is one of the most complex Once Upon a Time characters. In turns sympathetic, heartbreaking, and downright terrifying, it's hard to know if we should root for him or run away screaming.
We're on the edge of our seats waiting to know what happens to Rumple/Gold when OUAT returns. Will he find his son? Will he make things work with Belle (Emilie de Ravin)? Will he snap when he discovers Hook's (Colin O’Donoghue) in town?
In a recent interview with Collider, Robert Carlyle gives fans a tantalizing glimpse into his character's future.

"The stuff that's coming up, that I'm just about to do in the next three or four episodes, is mind-blowing," he teased. "You actually will feel sorry for Gold. There’s his love for Belle and he’s trying to be a better man, but we’ll see how long that lasts."
Robert also gave some interesting insight into how he approaches playing the character. He explained that he tries not to worry about how the audience will respond: "If they like him, great. If they don’t like him, great. It doesn’t matter to me. What’s important is being honest."
Love him or hate him, there's no question that Rumple/Gold is a great character in either world, so we approve of that approach!
