Warning: The article contains major spoilers for Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 2: “We Are Both.”

Once Upon a Time Season 2 isn't wasting any time jumping into the good stuff. We're only two episodes into the new season, and there have already been a few major WTF!? moments.

The biggest came at the end of Episode 2, when Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Mary Margaret/Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) were thrown into a "pit" at Mulan's (Jamie Chung) "safe haven." And then they were confronted by ...

Cora (Barbara Hershey)!

Yes, as in Regina's (Lana Parrilla) evil, magic-wielding mom. What the what?

Earlier in the episode, we'd learned that a young Regina, on Rumplestiltskin's (Robert Carlyle) prompting, had pushed Cora through a mirror, theoretically sending her to another world.

Clearly, Cora ended up back in Fairytale Land. But why? How? And where was she sent to in the meantime? Wonderland (she did go "through the looking glass," as it were...)? Somewhere else?

Share your reaction and theories below!

(And as a side note: this makes us even more convinced that Snow is shielding Emma from Cora in the promo for the season. Called it!)

Catch the next new episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, October 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
