Romance has always been an important part of Once Upon a Time, so now that Neal/Bae (Michael Raymond-James) is back in Emma's (Jennifer Morrison) life, we can't help but wonder what's next for them.

Certain spoilers suggest that these two aren't destined to fall right back into a relationship, but we're going to assume the possibility isn't totally off the table. But is it a good idea? We can see both sides of the argument.

On one hand, Emma has a longer history with Neal than with any of her other potential love interests. That means they have a built-in source of drama, which can be important for keeping romantic relationships interesting. Clearly, these two would have a lot of issues to work through if they ever did try to rekindle their romance, and as Season 2, Episode 14: "Manhattan" proved, Emma and Neal trying to communicate feelings makes for good TV.

Plus, if you ask us, they had great chemistry in Season 2, Episode 6: “Tallahassee.” Henry (Jared Gilmore) would probably enjoy seeing his mom and dad get back together. And we can't be the only ones itching to see how Rumple (Robert Carlyle) would react to potentially having Emma as a daughter-in-law — and vica-versa.

On the other hand, Emma and Neal's history is fraught with pain. Why would they want to reopen those wounds? We like that Emma doesn't let people get away with treating her — or anyone! — poorly, so the writers would have to work very hard to convince us she'd even be willing to give Neal another shot.

Plus, Neal already has a ton going on as a character. He just discovered he's a father, and he still has to deal with his own dad (plus, for those who don't mind spoilers, there's also this complicating factor). It's possible a romance with Emma would just detract from Neal/Bae's already compelling story.

So what do you think: Should Neal and Emma get back together, or do you have another love interest in mind for Storybrooke's savior?
