People have been wondering about Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Cora's (Barbara Hershey) past relationship ever since they shared a kiss on Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 12: “In the Name of the Brother.” In this sneak peek of Season 2, Episode 16: "The Miller's Daughter" (March 10), we get a first look at what that relationship was.
In this clip of the episode, Cora is preparing for her wedding, but that doesn't stop her from macking on Rumple. It's clear from this scene that these two are in some sort of pre-established relationship. But is whatever they share enough to make Cora question her marriage?
It sounds like she's marrying into a royal family, but she's only "fifth in line to be Queen," which isn't exactly a sure bet. "That won't happen without an awful lot of bloodshed," she notes. "And what you give me..."
"I can give you nothing but darkness," Rumple replies.
Sure, sure, Dark One Rumplestiltskin is self-loathing, we know that. But what does Cora mean when she says "what you can give me"? Is she talking about magic and power, romance, or both? And is she seriously thinking of calling off her wedding, or is that just an idle thought?
Heck, how did she even get from poor miller's daughter to shining bride? Check out the sneak peek, and share your theories in the comments!
