In late February, rumors started flying that a Once Upon a Time spin-off was in the works. Originally, it sounded like it was Mad Hatter focused, but new details from E! clarify the situation.

"We do have an idea that may or may not take place in Wonderland that will definitely have some new characters," showrunner Edward Kitsis explained. But he also added that "it's just kind of us tinkering in the laboratory" for the time being. They're trying to keep the details under wraps until they release it on the world.

They are shooting a pilot starting in April, and they're casting "three series regulars": Alice, Amahl, and The Knave.

Alice is, most are guessing, the Alice from Alice in Wonderland. As of now, she's described as a British twentysomething who's had a hard life but keeps a generous heart despite it all, which seems in line with most OUAT heroines.

Amahl is "Middle Eastern, attractive, and soulful," and described as having "a Zen dreaminess." And then there's The Knave, who is actually a character from the original Alice in Wonderland. Here, he's described as full of swagger, but also a man of action with "a strong moral center."

Do you like the sound of this spin-off, or would you rather Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz keep their focus on Once?

Catch the next episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
