New casting news for the proposed Once Upon A Time spin-off! We reported two weeks ago that the series would be following a twenty-something Alice rather than taking the originally assumed Mad Hatter slant. Now, we can add another character to the cast...

ABC is looking for someone to fill the role of a mental hospital psychiatrist, according to E! Online. The only additional information given is that the character will have scenes set in Victorian England.

Could this character be Alice’s doctor? We know that she will be having a hard time when we first meet her. Could her escape from a mental hospital spur her trip to Wonderland? Alternatively, as this is an older Alice, could she have already been to Wonderland and been placed in a mental hospital upon her return? People don’t tend to believe you when you say you followed a rabbit to a magical land.

We originally thought this spin-off might be a bad idea, but that was when we thought we would be seeing the Mad Hatter played by someone other than Sebastian Stan. Now that writer Jane Espenson is on board and we realized that Cora (Barbara Hershey) might be able to make an appearance as the Queen of Hearts, we’re willing to reconsider.

Are you excited about the possibility of a spin-off? How do you think the Victorian psychiatrist will come into play? Let us know in the comments below!
