The first official photo from Season 2 appeared in Entertainment Weekly’s special OUAT-themed issue. It gave us our first look at Lancelot (Sinqua Walls), who is rumored to be making his first appearance in Season 2, Episode 3: "Lady of the Lake".

In this second photo (from SpoilerTV), we see the dreaded Cora (Barbara Hershey), Regina’s (Lana Parrilla) mother in the Fairytale Land. She looks exactly the same as the last time we saw her, leading us to believe that we’ll pick up Regina’s backstory right where we left off — with Regina married off to the King, and Regina’s true love Daniel (Noah Bean) presumably dead, although he is rumored to be coming back (Noah was spotted on set recently).

The book Cora is blowing on looks like an ancient version of Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) book of fairy tales, given to him by Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) (the book’s origins will also be explored this season). Did Cora also get magical capabilities as a result of her deal with Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle)? We know this episode will also explore how Regina met Rumplestiltskin and learned magic.

Anything related to Cora and Regina’s past is exciting, so we’re looking forward to this scene!

Once Upon a Time Season 2 premieres on September 30, 2012 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
