Once Upon a Time’s Lacey, Belle’s Storybrooke alter-ego, definitely has a strong personality — one of those “love her or hate her” types. Emilie de Ravin (Belle/Lacey) tweets we will definitely be seeing more of “the scantily-clad barfly,” and we want to know how that makes you feel. Do you dig The Rabbit Hole’s most loyal patron? Or do you think she’s not worth Rumplestiltskin’s/our time?
Belle and Lacey couldn’t be more different, but they both share a sincere passion for life. In Belle, that manifests itself in her love of books and her efforts to see the best in people. In Lacey, that manifests itself in her love of alcohol, pool, and Van Halen. We couldn’t help but be drawn to fiery Lacey, and welcome her lighthearted nature. Everyone takes themselves so seriously in Storybrooke. It’s refreshing to see someone who laughs at the way people are afraid of Rumple and just wants to have a good time. Besides, Evil Rumple is a lot of fun to watch (though Nervous Date Rumple was pretty entertaining, too).
On the other hand, there’s a reason the people in Storybrooke take themselves (and Rumple) so seriously: there are usually life or death consequences. When Lacey doesn’t take these consequences seriously, she is not only endangering her own life, but the lives of others when she encourages Rumple to embrace his dark side. We were all aboard the Lacey train until she caught Rumple beating up the Sheriff of Nottingham. Belle would never have stood for such cruelty, especially in her name. Lacey? Barely bats a heavily-mascaraed eye at it. Not cool, Lace. Not cool.
Where do you stand on the Lacey debate? Do you think she’s a fun, flirty, and independent badass or an irresponsible twit with an alcohol problem? Let us know in the poll and sound off in the comments below!
