Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) shippers have been through the wringer this season of Once Upon a Time, and Rumple's dire injury isn't much comfort. On the upside, Rumple's near-death experience does lead to a gorgeous Rumbelle moment, which you can see in this sneak peek for Season 2, Episode 16: "The Miller's Daughter" (March 10).
In this sneak peek we learn Rumple has returned to his shop, but he's still gravely injured. "I need to talk to Belle," he tells Emma (Jennifer Morrison), who relents and passes him a phone.
Belle, of course, still doesn't remember who she is, so Rumple takes the opportunity to remind her. "I'm dying," he informs her, before launching into a tearful speech about what makes Belle so special.
"You are a hero," he tells her. "You're a beautiful woman who loved an ugly man. Really, really loved me. You find goodness in others, and when it's not there, you create it."
And it goes on, somehow managing to be heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. We'd quote the whole thing, but it's better experienced by watching.
