Once Upon a Time

For the latest news on Once Upon a Time’s spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, you've come to the right place!

Exciting news, Once Upon a Time fans! Not only was our favorite fairy tale drama renewed for Season 3, but the spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland premieres this fall, too!

What is Wonderland about? From the co-creators of OUAT (Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis), this Wonderland-centric show centers on Alice (Australian actress Sophie Lowe) and her trip down the rabbit hole. Familiar characters like the Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha), The Red Queen (Emma Rigby), and the White Rabbit (John Lithgow) pop up, as well as a handsome and mysterious man named Cyrus (Peter Gadiot). Since original OUAT Mad Hatter’s portrayer, Sebastian Stan, is busy with other projects, he hasn’t signed on to the show yet, but the showrunners are hopeful that he’ll make a cameo. They anticipate Regina/The Evil Queen’s mother, Cora (aka the Queen of Hearts in OUAT’s Wonderland), will appear, too.

When will it air? Contrary to early reports, this show won’t air during OUAT’s hiatus — instead, it will air on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC during the Fall 2013 season, just before hit dramas Grey’s Anatomy (9 p.m.) and Scandal (10 p.m.). No air date is scheduled, but it will likely begin in early September 2013.

Give us the nitty gritty! We know you want all of the details, so read on for the full official synopsis:

“In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe) tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing-cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be insane, and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever -- the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot). But deep down Alice knows this world is real, and just in the nick of time the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the irrepressible White Rabbit (John Lithgow) arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible.”
