One Direction Will Earn HOW MUCH By the End of 2014?
Been considering a career change? We suggest joining a boy band. Business Insider reports that 2014 will be a huge — and we mean, huge — year for the estrogen-fueled pop machine known as One Direction.
By the time next year is done, the boys of 1D will have raked in an estimated $1 billion. Not only is that a lot of pomade, it’s a record-breaking figure that will make One Direction the first boy band in history to reach such stratospheric heights. So long, 'N Sync. Nice knowing you, Backstreet Boys. You’re still here, Hanson?
How could one group possibly raise $1 billion in a single year? Well, beyond the 30 million records the band has already sold for an estimated $300 million, the group’s pulling a James Cameron and releasing a 3D movie. This is Us is expected to earn $150 million after it premieres on August 30.
Factor in the $15 million One Direction took home with their DVD Up All Night: The Live Tour, plus the expected $457.5 million from their global tour, PLUS the $67.5 million from all the various 1D knick-knacks we can’t live without, and you can see how the Benjamins rollpour flood in.
After this news, we’re starting to think Madame Tussauds New York could have used pure gold rather than wax for its latest exhibition.
