Is One Direction’s success a distant memory? Sales of the boy band’s latest single, “Midnight Memories,” have been subpar for the megawatt group with ClevverTV reporting the song’s projected to not even break into the Top 30.
That wouldn’t be a big deal for most entertainers out there but this is 1D we’re talking about. These are the five boys so famous they had a whole 3-D movie created around them, so famous wax figurines were crafted in their image, so famous they make even Simon Cowell smile!
The fact that “Midnight Memories,” the title track off their third album, hasn't reached the kind of stratospheric heights as “Story of My Life” or “What Makes You Beautiful” has us a little concerned the boys’ star could be fading. ClevverTV tells us the last time the boys charted this low was back in 2012 with singles “Kiss You” and “One Thing,” both of which did make it into the Top 10.
Don’t panic too much, though, fellow 1Ders. Our favorite fab are still doing OK for themselves. Midnight Memories is actually a history-making album as it marked the first time a group has ever started at the No. 1 spot on the U.S. charts for three consecutive albums.
Conclusion: “Midnight Memories” just isn’t the best song ever.
