Will Fifty Shades of Grey Be One Movie — or a Trilogy?
Would you believe that the studios behind the highly-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey film would actually turn down the opportunity to turn the book series into a movie trilogy?
Reports circulated this week that the movie — scheduled for released in February 2015 — would encompass all three books: Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed. Adding speed to the rumor mill was the buzz that the production is shooting plot points from the second and third books.
TooFab got in touch with Universal Pictures, though, and the studio said that the rumors are false — that there will be three movies, assuming the first one shows box office stamina.
In June, Fifty Shades author E.L. James tweeted that the film adaptation would be a trilogy, just like the book series.
The cast of the big-screen venture includes Jamie Dornan (Once Upon a Time) as kinky billionaire Christian, Dakota Johnson (Ben & Kate) as sexual novice Anastasia, Eloise Mumford (Lone Star) as Ana's roomie Kate, Victor Rasuk (How to Make It in America) as her classmate and potential suitor, pop star Rita Ora as Christian's sister, Max Martini (Revenge) as Christian's bodyguard, Dylan Neal (Arrow) as Ana's first stepfather, Callum Keith Rennie (Californication) as her third stepfather, and Marcia Gay Harden (Trophy Wife) as Christian's mother.
We can't wait! Not that… we've read the books… or anything…
