Katie Couric is joining the Orange Is the New Black cast, but it's not to get into a tangerine-colored jumpsuit.
Instead, she'll be part of a star-studded cast of judges for the inaugural Six-Word Memoirs' Six-Word Festival on Twitter, challenging contestants to sum up their life story in exactly six words.
SMITH magazine kick-started this "groundbreaking storytelling literary art form" back in 2006, and has since inspired more than 700,000 Six-Word stories, including the likes of Taylor Swift ("My diary is read by everyone.") and Stephen Colbert ("Well, I thought it was funny.")
The celebrity lineup centers around Orange Is the New Black, with Jason Biggs (Larry Bloom) asking his followers to respond to his six words: "I will never do that again." OITNB author Piper Kerman and castmates Danielle Brooks (Taystee), Uzo Aduka (Crazy Eyes), Lea Delaria (Big Boo), Matt McGorry (John), and Alysia Reiner (Natalie) will participate — joining Katie Couric, Tim Gunn, singer Regina Spektor, xoJane's Jane Pratt, To Write Love on Her Arms, and many more.
"From September 24-26, celebrities in comedy, music, fashion, writing, lifestyle design, and food will pose prompts to their combined seven-million-plus Twitter followers, challenging them to respond and 'say it in six,'" a press release for the festival states. "The best responses, as determined by celebrity judges, will be retweeted and announced on SixWordMemoirs.com."
Additionally, a selection of the best responses will be included in a forthcoming Six-Word Memoir book, and updates will be posted on @SixWords. Will you be participating? Sound off below, and check back to Wetpaint Entertainment for updates on other OITNB cast members joining the judging panel!
