The Originals’ Joseph Morgan Dishes About “War Between the Witches and the Vampires” (VIDEO)

The Originals starts up October 3, and we are taking in all the information we can about this Vampire Diaries spin-off in hopes it will keep us satisfied until then!

Fearnet caught up with the cast and crew at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, and got some exciting footage of Joseph Morgan dishing on upcoming plot details.

Joseph spilled that the feel of the new show is a bit darker than its predecessor, saying, “It’s a little more adult, it’s a little darker … a little edgier. It’s on a little more of an epic scale … it’s a war between the witches and the vampires, as opposed to coming-of-age story that is Vampire Diaries.” War! Wow. That sounds intense.

Joseph also clued us into the power struggle between Klaus and reigning vampire leader Marcel, saying, “The thing that Marcel has over Klaus is the numbers. He has the vampires of New Orleans behind him, he has control of the witches. Klaus is really gonna have to play a long, drawn-out chess game…” We bet it’s going to be a good showdown!

And what about his fam? Well, if they decide to start causing trouble for Klaus, Joseph pointed out that he really has nothing to fear from his siblings: “Klaus has the white oak stake, which is the one weapon that can kill him. He also has the daggers, where he can put his family to sleep for you know, however long he chooses.” Good point. I mean, he’s already daggered Rebekah a few times, so what would prevent him from doing it again?

We’re already on the edge of our seats, and we have such a long way to go until the pilot airs!

What do you think will happen this season on The Originals! Let us know in the comments.
