The Originals’ Leah Pipes Talks About Bringing Out Klaus’ “Nicer Side” (VIDEO)
We have some exciting news about The Originals! It looks like New Orleans bartender Cami might just be the one person who can get through to Klaus.
In an interview with CW Television, actress Leah Pipes sounded off about her character, Cami. We met Cami briefly in the backdoor pilot of “The Originals” on The Vampire Diaries, where she first ran into handsome Marcel on a dark street, and he warned her that it wasn’t safe to be alone. Cami responded with, “You know, I have a black belt in karate,” and the amused vamp let her pass.
Later, Klaus approached Cami and the two watched a street painter working on his latest piece. The pretty waitress seemed to stir something in the icy hybrid by describing the story of the artist they were watching. But Klaus disappeared before they could talk more! Was that a touch of humanity in Klaus’s eyes? Who knew!
Pipes talked to the CW about Cami and Klaus’s dynamic, saying, “Cami is a psychology student, and Klaus is a vampire. Cami believes that everyone is good, and no one is truly evil. And Klaus might actually be truly evil. For Klaus to have a person who believes in the good of all people in his life ... is gonna be a good thing for him, right? It’s gonna maybe bring out a nicer side in him, if he does have a nicer side?”
After watching Caroline try to reach his cold, dead heart over and over and over and … over, it would be a refreshing change to see Cami convince the über-moody Klaus that life is indeed, precious.
That being said, we’re not holding our breath.
