We saw a little of Jane-Anne in the backdoor pilot for the new CW show. She led Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) to the swamp, then performed magic so Sophie could find out that the werewolf was pregnant. That spell cost Jane-Anne her life at the hands of Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). He made an example of the witch by killing her on the street in front of dozens of vampires.
We headed to our favorite new tarot card website, tarot-lovers.com, to learn a little more about the chariot card (le chariot in French) and figure out what it might mean for Jane-Anne.
The card’s meaning depends upon which way it’s flipped: When upright, it symbolizes “Triumph over adversity, overcoming life's obstacles, decisiveness and ambition in achieving one's goals, well deserved victory.” Considering Jane-Anne’s bold move resulted in her death, that doesn’t sound quite right, but it’s better than when the card is reversed: “A disregard for others, a touch of jealousy, envy and avarice. Loss of control of a situation and some chaos in one's personal life possibly due to personal flaws. Imbalance. A warning against overwhelming ambition and too high expectations.”
Considering Jane-Anne sacrificed herself to save Sophie, not all of this rings true. However, the part about losing control of a situation? That’s right on the money.
