We’ve been devouring every morsel of news about The Originals since The Vampire Diaries’ spin-off has been announced, and we cannot wait until the premiere episode! Executive producer Julie Plec recently spilled some more details of the plot which make us even more excited.
And in order to sync the TVD’ and Originals’ storylines, they have to go back in time a bit to retell the events that happened in “The Originals” episode on TVD, but this time, we’re going to see things from Elijah’s point of view!
Julie says, “It’s the story of a brother coming into town to try and figure out what happened with his younger, black sheep brother [Klaus]. So he’s kind of playing detective a bit. We get to see scenes that existed in the [backdoor] pilot, but more from Elijah’s point of view.” You mean we get to see the handsome Daniel Gillies right off the bat? We are more than fine with this plan!
But how are they going to handle crossovers between the two shows if The Originals goes back in time? Don’t panic, fans! Julie assures fans that won’t be a problem, because they’re only backtracking for one episode: “in Episode 2, Rebekah shows up and she’s been to Europe and she’s done that whole thing. So then we can do things like aim for crossover opportunities.” Yes! We love crossovers.
Plec also added that viewers won’t immediately see Haley’s baby bump, saying, “We’re fudging just a bit with the showing, with the ‘at what point does she start to show?’ I think we’ll aim for a four-to-five month type of show, versus a three month. For a three month show, maybe we’ll just tell her to eat a couple of cheeseburgers the night before and see what happens.” Good to know.
Now we just have to wait a few more months for the October 3 premiere of both shows!
