No, you haven’t traveled back in time to 2001. (And thank god, right? Those super-low rise jeans were the worst.) Middle school dance soundtrack mainstays O-Town have reunited after more than a decade apart, and they just dropped their new single, “Skydive”!
Though you might be fretting that the boy band won’t be the same without standout stud Ashley Parker Angel, this new tune should set you at ease. We weren’t expecting the guys to go smooth and emotional with the track, but it sort of works — especially considering the boys have turned to men in their time away from the spotlight.
"'Skydive' is a dramatic song. It starts with a simple piano and vocal, and by the end you hear a 70-piece orchestra, and all four of us belting it out in 4-part harmony," band member Trevor Penick says of the number. "It’s a mid-tempo, but there’s a lot of energy in this song. There’s intensity in the vocals, and the track is very dynamic. This song should take you for a ride."
Not only are we digging the strings and the power ballad feel, we’re also loving de facto hottie Dan Miller (in photo, far left), who has only gotten better with age. Who needs Ashley’s spiky blond strands when you’ve got that John Krasinski vibe and scruff?
You can purchase “Skydive” on iTunes on July 27, and the rest of the album Lines & Circles on August 3.
