Utilizing the best features of wikis, blogs, message boards and social networks, Wetpaint mixes everything one would need so they and their friends can create, collect, and organize content on their own social website. Since the company’s June 2006 debut, close to 1,000,000 user-created community sites have been created. Wetpaint has also partnered with prominent consumer brands within the key categories of entertainment (Discovery Channel, FOX, Showtime, and Warner Bros.), technology (Dell, T-Mobile, HP, Oracle, and HTC), and lifestyle (Food & Wine, Executive Travel, Better Homes & Garden) to launch social website communities around their brands and products.

Position Description

The Online Advertising Sales Director will develop and execute the Wetpaint advertising sales strategy to maximize revenue opportunities. He/she will identify and close opportunities with top agencies and brands looking to reach highly targeted audiences across the network of nearly 1,000,000 websites powered by Wetpaint. He/she will be responsible for developing exceptional relationships through customized sales strategies and superior customer service, leading to mutually beneficial long-term relationships. Reporting directly to the CEO, Online Advertising Sales Director will represent Wetpaint with the highest level of integrity. Because of this person’s proximity to advertisers, he/she will also channel insights to and from the advertising community to be a strategic source of information to help Wetpaint optimize its position.
The ideal candidate should have demonstrated success with consultative sales strategies, specifically for online advertising. Strong communication, project management and analytical skills are all requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine advertising offering and targeting.
  • Achieve sales goals by identifying and closing new business opportunities.
  • Define and develop advertising solutions for new and existing clients.
  • Clearly articulate value proposition of ad strategies through creative and persuasive presentations.
  • Analyze performance metrics to make recommendations and optimize advertising programs.
  • Act as main point of contact for client issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with development, editorial and marketing teams to drive advertising strategy.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of online media sales.
  • Superior presentation, sales, negotiation, analytical, and relationship management skills.
  • Track record of strong relationships with advertisers and agencies.
  • Excellent project management, organization, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Self-starter capable of executing with limited oversight and direction.
  • Knowledge of and experience with social media preferred.
  • Infectious attitude and fun to work with!
