Lea Michele’s Parents Leave NYC — Move to L.A. to Be Closer to Her
Lea Michele (Rachel) is an NYC girl, no question. The Glee star was born in New York City and grew up not far from the city in Tenafly, New Jersey. She spent her youth on Broadway and although she has since moved to Los Angeles for her role on Glee, Lea’s parents have stayed in NYC.
The Glee star always tweets very excitedly whenever she gets the chance to go home for a visit so it came as a bit of a surprise when Lea announced during her December 11 Ellen appearance that her parents had bought a home in Los Angeles. Lea took a moment to say “hi” to both her mom and her dad during the interview.
“They’re so sad that they can’t be here. They just bought a house in L.A.,” she told Ellen. “They’re coming here soon, but they wish that they could be here.”
We’re not sure if Lea’s parents have permanently relocated from NYC to L.A., or if they perhaps decided to have homes on both coasts. But either way, it seems clear that Edith and Mark Sarfati’s primary goal right now is being close to their daughter.
Lea lost her boyfriend Cory Monteith (Finn) to an accidental drug overdose this July. When Ellen asked how she’s been doing, the Glee star replied, “I’m doing well, I’m doing well. Yeah, thank you. It’s certainly been, you know, a pretty rough year, but I’ve been surrounded by such great people, such great family.”
During this difficult time, we’re glad that Lea can have both of her parents so close by. We’ve seen photos of her mom spending the day on set with Lea during filming for a recent Glee episode, so it’s clear that she really is surrounded by people she loves.
