What Does Paris Hilton Want Fans to Learn from Watching The Bling Ring?

Paris Hilton is the modern epitome of a material girl. But the socialite insists people should not fixate on possessions, because sometimes they’ll get snatched away from you — well, if you’re famous enough at least.

Paris was one of several victims of the “Bling Ring”, a group of fame-obsessed teens who used the internet to stalk celebrities and find the most opportune time to ransack their homes. Other famous targets included Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson and Orlando Bloom.

The incident went down in tabloid infamy, and it’s now been turned into a movie directed by Sofia Coppola called The Bling Ring.

In an interview with Elle, Paris Hilton gives the mag a tour of her lavish, multi-million dollar home while proclaiming, “There’s much more to life thall of these possessions and everything. And if you want those things, you’re gonna have to work yourself, just like I did.”

True, Paris parlayed her 15 minutes of fame into a popular reality show, a clothing line, her own perfume, and even an accessories empire. But the fact is she started out rich (she’s an heiress, after all), and will probably stay that way until she’s lying on her Louis Vuitton, diamond-encrusted deathbed.

So what would Paris do if she ever came face to face with the rascals who robbed her home?

“I don’t know what I’d do if I saw them,” she told Elle. “I’m not a confrontational person. But I would literally be like, ‘You guys need serious help. And I want my stuff back.’”

So much for that whole “possessions don’t matter” spiel.
