Paul Simon and Wife Edie Brickell Arrested After Heated Argument (VIDEO)

It wasn't exactly "The Sound of Silence" at Paul Simon's Connecticut house this weekend, as the 72-year-old singer-songwriter and his 48-year-old wife, Edie Brickell, were both arrested after a blowout fight!

TMZ and AP report New Canaan, Connecticut, cops showed up at Paul's residence around 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, after a "family dispute," which TMZ characterizes as a "heated argument" — though no one seems to know the subject of this particular lover's quarrel.

They then took Paul and Edie into custody. Both spouses have since been released, and their arraignment is scheduled for today, April 28, in Norwalk.

Paul is a 12-time Grammy winner who penned and performed hit songs like "The Sound of Silence," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and "Mrs. Robinson" alongside with singer Simon Garfunkel between 1964 and 1970. He later continued his success as a solo artist, with his 1986 album Graceland going quintuple-platinum in the United States.

Edie, a folk musician herself, is the lead singer of Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, whose album Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Edie is his third wife — he was previously married to Peggy Harper and to Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher. Married since 1992, Paul and Edie have three kids together.

The next time they have a disagreement, we're betting they'll do so in hushed tones!
