Tyrese Breaks Down at Paul Walker’s Memorial Site, Takes Home a Piece of Debris
Fans and celebrities alike have been mourning the death of actor Paul Walker since Saturday evening (November 30) when he was involved in a fiery car crash that also claimed the life of his friend and business partner Roger Rodas. Among the most devastated is Paul's Fast & Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson, who broke down in tears while visiting the 40-year-old actor's memorial site this morning in Santa Clarita, California.
Photographers captured the emotional moment as Tyrese knelt down to lay flowers where the tragedy took place less than 48 hours ago. Although the wreckage has since been cleared and replaced with candles and flowers, the horror is still palpable — remnants of the Porsche Carrera GT litter the ground where onlookers have gathered to pay their respects.
"I will keep your energy with me forever #AshesOfAnAngel," Tyrese posted on Instagram along with a photo of a piece of debris he plucked from the site. "Fast family around the world we live you and we love you Paul is the heartbeat of this franchise and were gonna see to it that his energy and presence lives on forever #myhearthurtssobad."
Tyrese also posted this touching video of Paul celebrating his 40th birthday this past September with his Fast & Furious colleagues. "Not just a family on camera were a real family #WeJustCelebratedHis40th," Tyrese wrote.
According to reports, the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise will indeed be released, though likely delayed. Paul had already filmed most of his scenes, but the studio is still deciding if rewrites and reshoots are necessary. Prior to the accident, the film was scheduled to debut on July 11, 2015.
Regardless of what ultimately happens with the movie, Tyrese is right — Paul's legacy will live on indefinitely not only on screen, but in the hearts of friends and fans across the globe.
