Vampire Diaries Star Paul Wesley Reveals His Favorite Song at the Moment — What Is It?

The Vampire Diaries sets the bar pretty high when it comes to its soundtrack — but how is the musical taste of the TVD cast and crew? Pretty great, judging by the song Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) currently names as his favorite. What’s Paul’s go-to listen at the moment?

Paul shared with his Mobio INsider followers that his favorite current song is “Slipped” by The National. The tonal, poetic song from the Brooklyn-based band is one of our favorites, too, and — coincidentally, or not — would make an amazing contribution to the TVD soundtrack. This melancholic melody would be perfect for one of Stefan’s broodfests. Check out some of these choice lyrics:

“I don't need any help to be breakable, believe me
I know nobody else who can laugh along to any kind of joke
I won't need any help to be lonely when you leave me.”

The TVD cast seems to dig the heavy, melodic tracks. Last month, Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert) shared his love for Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire,” a contribution to the soundtrack for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. And Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) is a huge fan of his BFF Conor Oberst’s alternative band, Bright Eyes. Now that Stefan, Damon, and Jer are all living under one roof, can’t you just imagine these three sitting around the Salvatore mansion fireplace, listening to their favorite emo songs. We’d watch that episode.

Are you surprised to hear Paul’s pick for favorite current song? Do you think the TVDers have good taste in music? Sound off in the comments below!

Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, December 12 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW, followed by an all-new episode of Reign.
