With Elena and Damon on the rocks halfway through Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries, should Stelena shippers get their hopes up? Paul Wesley is adding fuel to the Stelena fire just in time for the holidays!

We all have our favorite Stelena moment, but what about Stefan himself? What did the Vampire Diaries star say was his favorite Stelena moment of all time? We’ll give you a hint: it’s an early one!

Back in November, Paul was one of the many Vampire Diaries cast members on hand at EyeCon 2013, aka a bi-annual Atlanta-based TVD fan convention. At one panel, a fan asked what Paul’s favorite Stelena moment was. This is how Paul responded: “It’s that one where his veins were kind of starting to come out, but he was embarrassing and she was like, ‘No, no. You don’t have to hide it from me.’ And then she was touching his face and was showing him that she really accepted him.”

Aww! The scene in question took place in Season 1, Episode 10 (“The Turning Point”), and it’s totally one of our top Stelena moments, too. While making out, Stefan goes into vamp mode and tries to turn his face away — but Elena won’t let him! “Don’t hide from me,” she tells him. They stare into one another’s eyes as “Cut” by Plumb plays in the background and it’s beautiful. This also happens to be the preceding scene to their first time sleeping together. Kind of a mega-epic Stelena moment altogether.

“Season 1 was great, wasn’t it?” Paul went on to say at the panel. Yep. Apparently, he recently re-watched some Season 1 and Season 2 episodes and was impressed with the story: “There was some really compelling stuff in the beginning as far as when they first met, Elena and Stefan … They kind of dragged it a little bit, and I really liked that.” Great, now we’re starting to get nostalgic. Excuse us while we go do a quick Season 1 rewatch.

Do you agree with Paul’s pick for best Stelena moment? Are you nostalgic for early TVD, too? Sound off in the comments below!
