Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley (Stefan) is having an impressive month. Not only did he make his directorial debut with Season 5, Episode 18 (“Resident Evil”) of TVD, but the indie film he’s starring in — Before I Disappear — was just honored at the SXSW. How did Paul react to the film’s audience award win in the Narrative Feature category?

“Congrats to the cast and crew of @B4IDisappear Winners of the #SXSW audience award.  @dreamsick @perlmutations @FatimaPtacek @emmyrossum,” Paul tweeted Saturday after the big announcement. The film is the first feature from short film director and feature writer Shawn Christensen, who won an Oscar for his 2012 short, “Curfew.”

Before I Disappear tells the story of Richie, a man at “the lowest point of his life,” One day, “Richie gets a call from his estranged sister, asking him to look after his eleven-year old niece, Sophia, for a few hours.” Drama presumably ensues. Paul plays the supporting role of Gideon alongside Shameless star Emmy Rossum, The West Wing’s Richard Schiff, and Shawn himself, who stars in the film as well as directs.

Paul seems to be very excited about the project and its success. When the film’s premiere at SXSW was announced, he tweeted: “Thrilled that our film ‘Before I Disappear’ will be premiering and in competition at this year's @sxsw.”

Congratulations, Paul!

The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
