On March 10, singer Paula DeAnda took The Voice stage to belt out “The Way” by Ariana Grande. The 24-year-old Texan became a teen star after auditioning for music mogul Clive Davis and recorded two albums. She even opened up for Rihanna! However, the singer was dropped and had to endure much trying to find her way back into the music world.
After hitting her falsetto, the former TRL guest got a two-chair turn from Blake Shelton and Shakira. Shakira started her pitch by saying that she enjoyed Paula’s performance, especially when she started to hit her high notes and falsettos. Shaki did note, however, that Paula did have some issues, but as her coach, she can guarantee that she will improve 100 percent.
Being Blake, the country crooner asked the San Angeles native where she was from, trying to find some common ground. Continuing on, Blake told the singer that he not only saw improvement in her, but a victory. And this was precisely what Paula needed to hear to choose Blake.
