Paula Deen’s Comeback: The Chef Lands a $75 Million Deal Despite Racial Slur Scandal

Just when you thought she was out, she pulls you back in! Although celebrity chef Paula Deen endured a — what some would say, career ending — scandal last year following allegations of racism by a staff member, the southern lady is about to make a comeback… and y’all, it’s going to be a big one.

CNN Money reports that Miss Paula just nabbed herself a $75 million investment deal with Najafi Media to create a new company called Paula Deen Ventures. The all-encompassing brand will include her restaurants, cruises, cookware, and cookbooks, to name a few.

Jahm Najafi, the CEO of the investment group, told CNN that the reason he chose to work with the troubled TV star was that he has "a deep respect for the hard work, unique content, and quality products which Paula has built around her brand."

This is a big coup for the former Food Network star, who saw sponsors like JC Penney, Kmart, Walmart, and Smithfield Foods drop like a hot potato after a former employee sued her for racial discrimination. Though the case was dropped, Paula still struggled to get her image back on track.

Time will tell as to whether Paula will make the comeback she hopes for, but it sounds like she’s off to a good start!
