Peaches Geldof’s Last Column Published: “I Had the Perfect Life”

Peaches Geldof’s sudden death continues to shock and sadden us.

Earlier this year Peaches had joined Mother&Baby as a parenting columnist. In a tribute to the late star, Mother&Baby has published Peaches’ final essay, “Being a Mum is the Best Thing in My Life.”

The column focuses on her two sons, Astala, 23 months, and Phaedra, almost 12 months, the happiness the two brought to the young mother, and the “haze of youth and no responsibilities” from which they rescued her.

In her final column, Peaches detailed one specific day when her two sons, first Astala and then followed by Phaedra, came into her bedroom with a drawing of her. When she saw the word “Mama” scribbled on the drawing, Peaches admitted she teared up at the “heartbreakingly sweet” gesture.

“Phaedy gave me a wet kiss and both collapsed giggling into my arms, looking at me with pure love. In that magic moment, all my doubts were erased,” Peaches wrote. “I had the perfect life – two beautiful babies who loved me more than anything. It was, and is, bliss.”

In a bittersweet end to her column, Peaches concluded by writing how happy she was with her life right then.

“So, I’ve achieved a sort of perfect balance. Right now life is good. And being a mum is the best part of it.”
