Hold on to your “I heart Tyrion Lannister” shirts, people. Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones fame is reportedly in talks with HBO about starring in a new pilot for the channel.

Australian news outlet If.com.au has the news, which make sense since an Aussie penned the script in question. Justin Monjo of Sydney has taken on The Beasts of Valhalla, based on a series of novels with the same name written by George C. Chesbro. Word has it Peter would play the lead detective in the show.

“It’s a grounded sci-fi series,” Justin explains, adding that both HBO and production house Red Hour Films think Peter is “the perfect guy for the part and are very excited about the project.” While the well-loved cast member of Game of Thrones hasn’t signed anything yet, Justin plans to fly to New York in March to discuss the project further.

Don’t worry though. If Peter signs on, he wouldn’t start filming Valhalla until after GoT wraps. Interestingly enough, however, If.com seems to think it knows when that end date will be, writing “the intention would be to shoot the one-hour series in 2016 after Dinklage finishes Game of Thrones.”

We haven’t heard any news of Thrones wrapping up and, last we checked, author George R.R. Martin still had a couple of books to publish. Could this mean changes in Tyrion’s life on the show?

What do you make of the news? Would you love to see Peter front a new drama or are wondering if he’ll even be available? Tell us in the comments!
