Critics may be under the impression that Cynthia Bailey’s marriage to Peter Thomas is in need of some serious work, and although the couple doesn’t seem to spending as much time in the same city as they once did, there’s obviously still a deep love and appreciation for one another. Sure, Peter toyed with leaving and/or cheating on Cynthia when she was ill because of her fibroids, but that’s all water under the bridge now.
Peter achieved a major social media milestone over this past weekend, and Cynthia was one of the first people to congratulate him on his latest accomplishment. What happened, you ask? Peter was officially verified on Twitter!
As defined by Twitter itself, verification is “currently used to establish authenticity of identities of key individuals and brands on Twitter.” In other words, if you are a celebrity or other well-known personality of any kind, being verified is a big deal, and tells people that follow or want to follow you that you are who you say you are.
Cynthia has been verified for quite some time now, but she was still psyched that her hubby has now joined the club of important users. “Congrats to my hubby @peterthomasrhoa. He is now verified. He kept telling me he was certified instead… “ Cyn tweeted along with a photo of her man’s verified account.
And although it may seem simple, getting verified isn’t as easy as it sounds and can only be determined by Twitter itself. As the social media site explains, “Twitter proactively verifies accounts on an ongoing basis to make it easier for users to find who they're looking for. We concentrate on highly sought users in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.”
For some perspective, Kim Zolciak’s husband Kroy Biermann is verified (being a pro football player probably helps) but Todd Tucker and Gregg Leakes are not.
