We’ve known for several months now that Apollo Nida was headed to jail after committing bank fraud and identity theft — he even reached a plea deal back in May — but yesterday, July 8, a judge officially sentenced the reality star to eight years behind bars plus an additional five years on parole.

Apollo’s wife, Phaedra Parks, hasn’t publicly commented on his sentencing yet and given that she wasn’t even present at yesterday’s hearing we’re not totally sure where this couple currently stands. Still, Apollo’s family — which also includes sons Ayden, 4, and Dylan, 1 — was mentioned several times throughout the hearing.

First off, the father of two, who previously revealed how afraid he is of leaving his boys, apologized for his actions. “I want to apologize to the victims,” he started off. “I want to apologize to my family for letting them down.”

Even though, like we said, Phaedra was conspicuously missing from yesterday’s hearing, Apollo’s family was taken into account when the eight-year sentence came down. According to AccessAtlanta.com, presiding judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr. recommended Apollo be jailed close to Atlanta for the benefit of his wife and children.

On Watch What Happens Live a few months ago Phaedra declared she and her hubby have no plans to divorce, but the couple has been distant over the past several months with Phaedra saying at the RHoA reunion that they were in couple’s counseling.

Whatever happens, we hope Ayden and Dylan are spared as much pain as possible. This situation isn’t easy for anyone, but it’s especially difficult knowing that these two young boys will grow up without a father in their life for the next eight years.

Do you think the Parks-Nida family will be able to make it through Apollo’s lengthy prison sentence? Weigh in below.
