With seriously catchy hit songs comes lawsuits. Pharrell Williams learned that the hard way with a new suit sent his way. Read on to find out what’s going on.
Here’s the latest from TMZ: The newest addition to the The Voice‘s spinning chairs has a very successful YouTube show called ARTIST TLK. The premise is exactly what it sounds like; Pharrell recruits his famous friends to stop by and talk shop. He’s had the likes of Spike Lee, Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy, and Tony Hawk on, and his first season received millions of views.
Unfortunately for Pharrell, a producer behind the show claims Pharrell got too big for his very big hat when he landed the gig with The Voice. As TMZ puts it, the singer told the producer to “pound sand” and said he couldn’t do the YouTube show any longer because he “made an exclusive deal” with NBC.
Because the producer invested mucho dinero ($1 million!) in the project, he wants Pharrell to pay him back. Pharrell, though, he’s rolling his eyes. “This is complete nonsense,” his rep tells TMZ. “It’s unfortunate when you try to help a friend and they wind up trying to take advantage of you.”
Can’t we all just be happy?
