Philip Seymour Hoffman Dead of Reported Drug Overdose: Glee Stars React

On Sunday, February 2, the world reeled with the news that Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman had died at age 46. Though his cause of death has not been confirmed, it's been reported that overdosed on heroin. In May 2013, Philip had checked himself into a 10-day drug detox program for substance abuse issues, which included heroin. Much of Hollywood has taken to Twitter to react to the tragedy.

Among them are many of the stars of Glee, a cast which lost one of their own, leading man Cory Monteith (Finn), to a heroin overdose just six and a half months ago. Like Philip, Cory had also recently completed a stay in rehab. Both men worked hard to fightt their demons, and both men ultimately lost their battle with addiction.

Though Cory's girlfriend, Lea Michele (Rachel), has yet to tweet about Philip's death, plenty of the actor's co-stars have. And the similarities between the two actor's passings have not gone unnoticed.

In addition to his Best Actor Oscar for 2005's Capote, Philip is also known for playing Plutarch in last year's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. His character should have appeared in both Mockingjay Part 1, which is currently filming, and Mockingjay Part 2. He has three Tony Award nominations. He had been in a longtime relationship with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, with whom he has three children.
