Original story: In terrible news, Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment, according to the Wall Street Journal. He was 46 years old.
Philip was found dead on the afternoon of February 2 in his apartment in NYC's West Village neighborhood. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has yet to confirm the exact cause of death.
However, this tweet from a Wall Street Journal reporter sheds light on the police report:

Philip had checked himself into a 10-day drug detox program in May 2013. He said at the time that he had been clean for the past 23 years but had been having substance issues within the past year, which included snorting heroin.
He said that he had been doing heroin for about a week before realizing he needed help. He checked out of rehab later that month.
Philip won a Best Actor Oscar for his role in 2005's Capote. He is also known for playing Plutarch in last year's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He has three Tony Award nominations. He had been in a longtime relationship with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, with whom he has three children.
Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones during this very difficult time.
