The Pistol Annies — Miranda Lambert’s band — have an equal amount of talent, dazzling good looks, and sass, but on Thursday night, Ashley Monroe was the center of attention. The country singer wed her baseball-throwing beau in a Knoxville ceremony, officiated by none other than Voice coach Blake Shelton.
“I married my best friend,” Ashley told People. “He has such a good heart.”
Ashley married Chicago White Sox pitcher John Danks in a beautiful ceremony at Blackberry Farm — the same location pop diva Kelly Clarkson wed just four days earlier — with Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains in the background.
Side note: What’s up with all the country singers getting with professional athletes? Just recently, Kimberly Perry, lead singer of The Band Perry, got engaged to Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia. We guess country music and baseball go together like peanut butter and jelly.
While Blake was busy officiating, his sweetheart Miranda (and Ashley’s fellow bandmate) was onstage as well as Ashley’s maid of honor — and Miranda even served as her wedding planner, leaving Ashley no choice but to name her “Plannie Annie.”
"Miranda was the one who cared about all the details!" Ashley said. But those details paid off, with Ashley arriving to the wedding in a horse-drawn carriage. “It was magical."
Congrats, Ashley and John!
