It's official: Porsha Stewart is finally dropping her ex-husband's last name and going back to her maiden name, Williams. The Real Housewives of Atlanta newbie recently spoke with ABC News Radio, where she explained why she finally decided to lose Kordell's surname.
"I am officially Porsha Williams," Porsha declared, adding, "I was holding onto something and I really can't explain to you what it was. But just as a woman we have the right to change our minds."
We're sure her new mentor, NeNe Leakes, will be very happy to learn about Porsha's decision.
NeNe used her BravoTV blog to share her point of view that Porsha needed to bid her married name goodbye.
"If you are so done with Kordell, be done with his last name as well. You guys don't have children together, so why hold on to something that was negative for you?" NeNe wrote.
At the time, Porsha was dead set on holding on to Stewart, even telling Wendy Williams, "It's not his name — it's my name … I'm a whole other woman now, and I'm going to own that name."
But, like Porsha said, all women have the right to change their minds. Plus, Porsha's last name, Williams, which she shares with her Civil Rights activist grandfather, Hosea Williams, is especially meaningful to her.
"I just want to leave my own legacy and I want to build up who I am, and be able to leave that with that name Williams," Porsha concluded.
