In the episode, Porsha visits her therapist, who tells her she was too dependent on Kordell, since her name wasn't even on the deed to the house or on the bank accounts.
"I thought that's what being a wife was," Porsha tells her therapist. The therapist responds by asking if Kordell was more of a therapist or a husband.
"I think it was more like a father, but that's what attracted me to him in a way because my father died when I was 17 years old," Porsha replies. Then, her therapist says, "But the reality is, it's not the same relationship. You don't sleep with your father." Good point.
Porsha says Kordell was not as responsible as her actual father was. "My father always had a plan for his family — I trusted him to provide for me — so I thought that Kordell had that characteristic, and that was familiar to me from my father," she admits.
Porsha says she finds herself trying to figure out what she could have done differently to save the marriage. "I just feel like, 'Maybe I could have done this,' or 'Maybe I could have done that,' y'know?" she tearfully tells the therapist. "'What else could I have done?'"
When her therapist asks whether she was even getting what she needed from Kordell, Porsha says tearfully that though she wanted children, her husband used this as his power over her.
"My doctor said, 'Porsha, I’m concerned because you’re supposed to be pregnant by now,'" she details. "I was actually too embarrassed to tell the doctor that I’m not pregnant because my husband hasn’t really been trying.”
We then find out that Porsha is still wearing her ring. "When you take off your ring … then it’s final. So I thought maybe I’d keep it on until it’s finished."
Hopefully Porsha can find closure on this chapter soon. We're pulling for you, girl!
