Pregnant Kerry Washington’s Husband Retires at Age 32

That whole NFL thing? It’s handled.

This has been a game-changing year for Scandal's Kerry Washington, 36. She married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha in June, and they announced her pregnancy in late October, when she was reportedly about four months along. Now it's late December, and Nnamdi has announced his retirement from professional football, at age 32.

"After 11 seasons in the NFL, I will be retiring today," he announced at a press conference at the Oakland Raiders' headquarters. "I've been blessed and fortunate to have a successful NFL career. Another journey is starting for me right now."

He started his career with the Raiders and, when retiring, he signed a ceremonial one-day contract with the Raiders so he could end his career as one of them. According to Zap2it, Nnamdi made the Pro Bowl team three times in his career and was a two-time first-team All Pro. He had eight good seasons with the Raiders, then signed a five-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was cut from that team after two years, then joined the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, he was cut in early November.

"Life happens," Nnamdi said during the press conference. "You start getting these feelings — it's time. I just felt that it was the right time."

If you can retire while you're young — with plenty of NFL money in the bank — why not, especially when a baby is on the way? He'll probably find a nice post-retirement gig, but now is a good time for them to focus on their growing family. Start building that crib, Daddy!
