If you were worried Scarlett Johansson might disappear off the grid after her baby is born, your fears are unfounded: Scarlett has absolutely no plans of letting her movie career slow down. In fact, Scarlett’s a true believer that she can have it all.
And while the Her actress is looking forward to the arrival of her first baby with fiance Romain Dauriac in about four months, she’s equally excited about meeting the challenges that come with being a working mom.
“It seems so stressful to not be able to spend time with your family because you’re constantly chasing the tail of your own success,” Scarlett tells the Wall Street Journal. “There must exist a world in which I can balance those things, be able to raise a family and still make a film a year, or work on my own, develop things, do theater. I want to be able to have it all. Selfishly.”
Who could blame her? The 29-year-old mom-to-be’s career is white hot, and who would want to give that up?
“I know that with that there will be some sacrifices,” Scarlett says. “I know that’s the struggles with working mothers and successful careers. It happens.”
Even though, Scarlett admits, those struggles would be a lot different if she was an expectant father in Hollywood instead of a pregnant mom — since it’s pretty much accepted that males will continue working after their children are born, especially if they’re as mega-successful like Scarlett.
“It just doesn’t happen that way,” Scarlett says. “You can be every woman’s fantasy, and nobody thinks twice about the fact that you have eight kids or whatever.”
