The Originals Premiere: 10 Things You Need to Know

The Originals Season 1 premiere is just days away. The Vampire Diaries spin-off debuts on The CW October 3, but we were lucky enough to get our hands on a screener of the first episode. While we can’t give too much away, we’ve compiled ten juicy teasers that will hopefully make you even more excited to watch Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), and the rest battle it out for control of New Orleans and the future of the hybrid baby.

10. You don’t need to have seen the original.

Never watched The Vampire Diaries? No problem! The first episode does a fantastic job of introducing vampires, Originals, hybrids, werewolves, and witches without much mention of Mystic Falls.

9. There are flashbacks.

The Original family of vampires has been around for centuries. Explaining much of their past requires flashing back to days of yore, complete with period costumes and wigs.

8. There are familiar faces.

Mikael (Sebastian Roché) makes an appearance, reminding you of just why Klaus hates his step-father.

7. Rebekah’s around.

Thanks to the magic of cell phones, we’ll get to see a few glimpses of Rebekah (Claire Holt), though she won’t arrive in New Orleans until Episode 2.

6. Elijah’s everywhere.

The episode begins with his voiceover, and we follow the refined vampire for much of the episode. So much Elijah!

5. Witchy woo-woo.

This episode introduces some new witches, and we also learn a little more about Jane-Anne Deveraux’s (Malaya Rivera Drew) spell, which she performed to discover Hayley’s (Phoebe Tonkin) pregnancy.

4. The manse.

We get a peek at the house where the Originals will make their home.

3. Let’s make a deal.

If you thought Klaus came around on the baby thing pretty quickly in the backdoor pilot, don’t worry. We get a better idea of how the ever-persuasive Elijah convinced him that a hybrid offspring could be an asset.

2. Marcel’s weapon.

If you saw the extended director’s cut of the backdoor pilot (and if you haven’t, it might help give you an even better idea of what this vampire family is all about), then you know how Marcel controls the witches. This sheds a little more light on the subject.

1. The last 10 seconds.

All we can say is, OMFG.
